Beaches B team Finish 3rd in Midland Michigan Rainbow Tournament!
On their quest for a National B tournament birth the Beaches B team took to the road and pushed themselves in the
first look at B teams the Midland tournament. Going 1-2 the Beaches were able to see for the first time the type of
competition they will face in USA Hockey B division play. The pace was fast and the playing style very physical. The
girls stood their own though and found what they were looking for in competition.
The first game saw the girls hand the Motor City Flames a 4-1 loss with Linda Belanger starting the scoring in the first
period. The Flames answered with the next goal but Angela Walker of the Beaches found the back of the net for next
goal which proved to be the game winner. this goal allowed the Beaches to relax and push on to the victory.
The second game was a fast paced skating affair which saw to breakaway goals by the Hazel Park Michigan Black
Beauty to be the deciding factor. Sue Eichler was peppered in the game but stood tall and kept the Beaches in the
game. Unfortunately the Beaches were without the hard digging Linda Belanger who went down in the first game with
a pulled hamstring and was unable to play. The girls gave a tremendous effort but were unable to get the puck past
the net minder for the Black Beauty.
The third game saw the Beaches fall to the tournament winners the Michigan Chiefs of Detroit. The Beaches came
out flying and scored the games first two goal but a very well coached Chiefs team found the Beaches weaknesses
and took full advantage scoring 7 unanswered goals. The game was a fast paced and very physical affair.
In all the team saw the competition it will face in the future and know what they must do to get to that level of play.
Again a great effort was turned in by all the players and great experience gained by the team.
